This Department was established as a result of devolving power to the provincial council under 13th amendment to the constitution. The key role of the Provincial Department of Agriculture is Agricultural development and Extension. Department is landed by the provincial Department of Agriculture. Provincial Director of Agriculture is the head of the Department. There are two Deputy Directors of Agriculture for Kegalle and Ratnapura Districts. Ratnapura District is devided into 04 AD divisions whereas Kegalle District is devided into 03 AD divisions. Each AD division is supervised by an Assistant Director of Agriculture. There are 30 AI divisions in Ratnapura district and 15 of that in Kegalle District. Agricultural Instructors appointed for these AI divisions, disseminate appropriate technology towards farmers. |
