| The services rendered by the Probation and Chid Care Services Department are Providing care and custody to the children, rehabilitating socially and institutionally of the children who are subjected to legal dispute under order of the court , supervising children under the order of court with aim of well-protected child generation. |

The Department of Probation and Childcare Services in Sabaragamuwa Provice is headed by a commissioner .There are eight Probation Units in the Sabaragamuwa Province according to judicial divisions .These eight probation units have included as follows, Ratnapura districts has four units while Kegalle districts has four .The staff of the department consisted of 86 members as administrative officer, probation officers, programme assistants, management assistants including staff of children’s homes. Fifteen volunteer children’s homes and State Receiving Children Home as well as Algoda, Mruththettuwa Remand Home are maintained by department for the sake of orphaned, deserted, and underprivileged children in the Sabaragamuwa Provice. |
