Progress monitoring of sectoral plan and development activities performed by the provincial ministries and departments under the devolved subjects
Setting overall guidelines and coordination of activities pertaining to preparation of medium term provincial development plan, provincial investment plan, sectoral plans and capital budget proposals and formulation of these plans and proposals for overall provincial development
Creation and maintenance of provincial data base and labour market information unit of the province
Maintaining and coordinating the provincial progress monitoring system
Performing secretarial functions of the provincial planning committee and provincial physical planning committee
Assisting provincial planning council in matters pertaining to provincial development policies and strategies
Formulating and conducting training programmes to build up planning capabilities
Implementation and monitoring of regional development plan (Decentralized Budget of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council) of the province
Functioning as a member of young entrepreneur’s forum and district water committee
Provincial Planning Unit of Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council functions as a heart of provincial planning process. This is directly under the Chief Secretary of Sabaragamuwa Province responsible for overall planning, monitoring and progress review of development projects and programmes performed by the Ministries and Departments at sub national level.
