With the introduction of 13th Amendment to the constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, ?revenue sources from 36:1 to 36:20 of the 1st list ( Provincial council list ) of the 9th schedule of the constitution have been devolved to the Provincial Councils. According to the financial statute No.06 of1990 of Sabaragamuwa province, the Provincial Revenue Department was established in 1991 in order to perform the revenue collection activities of the province At present the department consists with the competent human resources, of Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners, Assessors and Tax Officers to achieve the goals of the department. The following taxes and charges are being currently administrated by the Provincial Revenue Department.
- Turnover Tax
- Drugs and chemical tax
- Mineral Tax
- Stamp Duty
- Charges under the fauna and Flora Ordinance
The Regional Office was established in 2001 in Kegalle District for the convenience of tax payers. Now the regional office imposes and collects taxes and charges in Kegalle district |
