Roads Development
In Sabaragamuwa Province there are 1148.12 km of “C” grade roads and 937.42 km of “D” grade roads. These roads belong to 08 Executive Engineering divisions as bellows.

Sabaragamuwa Province is full of various types of tourist attractions. The tourist product development has to be diversified into various segments such as,

  1. Nature Tourism
  2. Adventure Tourism
  3. Agro - Tourism
  4. Culture Tourism
  5. Sports Tourism
  6. Heritage Tourism
  7. Eco-Tourism
  8. Community-based Tourism

 At present Sabaragamuwa Provincial Tourism Ministry has prepared a five year Tourism Development plan. It includes six zones. They are,

  1. Kuruwita, Ratnapura Tourist Zone.
  2. Kolonna, Embilipitiya Tourist Zone.
  3. Kalawana Ayagama Tourist Zone.
  4. Balangoda, Imbulpe, Weligepola Tourist Zone.
  5. Rambukkana, Mawanella, Aranayaka Tourist Zone.
  6. Dehiowita, Yatiyantota, Deraniyagala, Galigamuwa Tourist Zone.

 Rural Infrastructure

 This includes the development of following features in rural and suburb areas

  1. Rural Road development
  2. Enhancement of rural Health facilities.
  3. Enhancement of rural community facilities.
  4. Enhancement of drinking water facilities.
  5. Fulfillment the needs of energy.

 It is hard to develop infrastructures in rural area as against urban areas. But it helps to develop rural areas gradually under this subject.

 
    Services
Provincial Roads Development
  • Construction new roads and rehabilitate “C” and “D” grade roads to meet transportation needs of the public.
  • Improve the roads for enhancing the quality of “C” and “D” roads.
  • Conduct road maintenance to keep the high standard.
  • Doing construction under foreign aid.
  • Establish proper coordination with relevant institutions to provide efficient service to the public.
Rural Infrastructure Development
  • Construction and development of roads in rural areas.
  • Increase drinking water facilities in rural areas.
  • Improve sports facilities in rural areas.
  • Development of religious places in rural areas.
  • Development of rural schools and community halls.
  • Improving the places of cultural values.
  • Development of state infrastructure facilities in rural area.
Tourism
  • Collect and update current tourism related information.
  • Infrastructure development in tourist attraction place.
  • Tourism promotion activities.
  • Preparing tourism related information tools and materials.
  • Produce skilled labours through school of hotel and tourism.
